Dhara Mehrotra born 1979 New Delhi, currently lives and works from Bangalore, India. Dhara’s work shows and celebrates the order of things, the varied macro and micro patterns with which the plants and living organisms, as well as the human society organize themselves. Based on extensive research, her creative work encompasses a wide range of mediums and disciplines. Her recent art project, with NCBS-TIFR (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research), Bangalore (2018-19) is inspired by the mycelium, the vegetative part of the fungus or fungus-like bacterial colony. Showing the form, pattern and structure of the mycelium network, it explores the connection between art, science and ecological aesthetics. A distinguished graduate of Delhi College of Art, she lives and works in Bangalore. Dhara has participated in many exhibitions in India and abroad. Her works have been shown in the Gulf Art Fair, Dubai; Museum of Sacred Art (MOSA), Belgium; China Art Museum, Shanghai and University of California, Georgia. She is the recipient of Junior Research Fellowship, Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
