The Indian Way of Life puts great emphasis on nutrition as a long-term reward rather than just taste that lasts only for a few seconds while on the tongue. “You are what you eat” means that your thoughts and actions depend on your wellness.
Why are we vegetarian?
Vegetarianism is about eating the lowest life form from your environment.
Essentially, in tropical India, fruits and vegetables are in plenty, so one can choose them over the higher life forms of animals. It is based on a principle related to a ‘reverence for life and least consumption from the environment’.
A man eating his camel in a desert or an eskimo eating a walrus, would still be considered vegetarian, because it would still be the lowest life form around that part of the world.
