Mirror is often used as a symbol of vanity in the portrayal of woman. The moralizing however is mostly hypocritical. The real function of the mirror is to make the woman connive in treating herself, first and foremost, as a sight. In this painting I want to show the sensitive issues of sexuality and eroticism, which in art are not something to be repressed and prohibited, but generate a sense of freedom for the conservative patriarchal society.
