This symposium investigates Lalit Mohan Sen as a versatile artist, focusing on the various aspects of his creative life. It is also a way of paying tribute to the forgotten master who was born in the month of November 1898. We have four renowned speakers with us – prof R Siva Kumar, Prof Swati Bhattacharya, Mr Anubrata Chakrabarti and Prof Pinaki De. Noted art historian, Debdutta Gupta moderates the sessions.

Prof Debdutta Gupta (Moderator)
Professor, St Xavier's College
Born in 1969, Debdutta has been gifted with an innate inclination to the arts. He studied Art History at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, graduating in 1994. He worked as Chief Coordinator, (PUJO PROJECT), Lalit Kala Akademi, Government of India (2013-2015). Debdutta is a respected art historian with knowledge in all the disciplines of art. Currently the Assistant Professor of Art History at St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous) Kolkata, Debdutta has substantial research work behind him and has been a regular contributor to academic journals in India and abroad. His major curated shows are Unraveling a Modern Master: The Art of Lalit Mohan Sen at Victoria Memorial Hall, 2014; Works by Manindra Bhusan Gupta at Akar Prakar,2014; Bangla Cartoon, Maya Art Space, 2014; Works by Ramkinkar Baij at AkarPrakar,2013; Works by Benodebehari Mukherjee, AkarPrakar,2012; Postcards by Nandalal Bose at Akar Prakar,2011 and Tagore Triad at Akar Prakar. Mr Anubrata Chakrabarti/ Technologist at TCG CREST
Anubrata Chakrabarti is a trained technologist who has an avid interest in art and cinema. He currently serves in the leadership group of TCG Centres for Research and Education in Science and Technology (TCG CREST). He is an established author and contributes regularly to leading magazines, journals and newspapers. He was also a key member of the team which did a unique digital project on the Kheror Khata (film book) by Satyajit Ray for his film Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne.
