Inspired by the art of Soma Das, this performance by Aishani Misra and Shubhayan Dey steps foot in the shoes of a homebody from one of these artworks, and follows them through unassuming doorways, kitchen corners, terraces, windows overlooking the street — all the places where ordinary lives unfold, often unwitnessed. Alongside stories, there will be songs — spanning adhunik Bangla, folk, and Rabindrasangeet — that trace the tedium and the awe, the dreams and the deferrals that make up the rhythms of that complicated refuge we call home.
This event is a public-facing programme under Soma Das’s ongoing solo exhibition নিত্য - নূতন: The New in the Everyday on view at Emami Art till 18 September 2026.
ABOUT THE PERFORMERS
Amol / Aishani Misra is a writer, translator, and musician, currently an undergraduate at Ashoka University. They like to perform music across genres, and are drawn to the intersections of literature, politics, and song. Recently, they performed Sung Poetry — From Tagore to Dylan at Akar Prakar, Kolkata, which explored resonances in the musical and literary oeuvre of the two Nobel Laureates.
Bubu / Shubhayan Dey is a multi-instrumentalist and a student of economics from Presidency University. Trained in both western classical violin and Indian classical tabla, he has perfromed with Tapas Das (Mohiner Ghoraguli), Timir Biswas, Aditya/Hulo etc. He also had composed scores for films and documentaries which have won the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Darbhanga IFF, Jaipur IFF, IFF Srinagar awards, Nagari Short Film Festival Award among others.
