Taking inspiration from Santanu Debnath’s pensive depiction of ponds, rivers, and reservoirs in his art, this workshop by Emami Art in collaboration with KCC will begin with a music-infused dramatic reading of illustrated children’s books on waterbodies, and will then engage the participants in an art and storytelling activity inspired by those stories and Debnath’s artworks.

This workshop is a public-facing programme under Morphology of Water: A Project by Santanu Debnath – a solo exhibition at Emami Art on view till 18 October 2025. We offer the young cohort a rich opportunity to learn about the climate concerns surrounding waterbodies, study relevant children’s literature, and apply them with empathy in their own creative practice.

Workshop Structure:

  • 10 mins: A brief walkthrough of the exhibition guided by the artist

  • 50 mins: Music-infused dramatic reading by the facilitator

  • 1 hour 15 mins: Art activity

  • 45 mins: Final presentation of the resulting artwork

Note: This workshop will be conducted in Bengali and English. Books and basic art supplies will be provided. Participants may carry dry mediums (colour pencils, crayons, pastels, sketch pens, etc) of their choice.
