Landscapes in Impasto: A Painting and Sketching Workshop : Facilitated by Vishal Kumar Gupta

28 February 2026
Date: 28 February 2026

Time: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Venue: Emami Art Ground Floor Gallery 1

Recommended for anyone above 16 years of age

Taking inspiration from the sketches in graphite and impasto paintings currently on display at Field Notes (On the Afterlife of Trees), the debut solo exhibition of emerging artist Vishal Kumar Gupta at Emami Art, this curated one-day workshop explores the evolution of landscape from observational drawings to textured impasto painting.

The workshop begins with a presentation by Vishal Kumar Gupta, introducing approaches to landscape construction, composition, and materiality. Participants will then engage in outdoor sketching to study structure, light, and spatial depth directly from observation. The afternoon session transitions indoors, where selected sketches will be developed into expressive impasto paintings in acrylic, focusing on surface, texture, and painterly interpretation.

This workshop is a public-facing programme under Field Notes (On the Afterlife of Trees): A Solo Exhibition by Vishal Kumar Gupta on view at Emami Art till 7 March 2026.
