EAEFF is proud to introduce a new component to the Emami Art Experimental Film Festival: a moving image exhibition. For the first time, the festival expands beyond the conventional screening format to present a group exhibition bringing together moving image works by four artists, an artist-filmmaker duo, and a collective. Together, these practices explore the possibilities of projected images, installation, and the expanded forms that moving image can take beyond the screen.

A Séance of Planetary Hauntings and Local Ghosts brings together a constellation of moving image installations that approach cinema as an expanded, spatial, and affective form. The exhibition considers how images might emerge not only through cameras and screens, but also through memory, repetition, performance, oral histories, gestures, and acts of imagination.
A man is said to have levitated in sixteenth-century Kochi. No image survives of this. And yet it persists through wedding songs performed by interfaith communities who treat him as a local village deity. What would you do when something can't be filmed or photographed? It is summoned through singing, dancing, and imagination. This summoning through repetition is taken as the leading method for entering this exhibition of moving image works. Moving image, as a technology and as a conceptual proposition, has always been haunted by impossible evidentiary demands. To show what cannot be shown. To show those which left without tangible traces but rumours, gestures and repetitions.
